Copper-Nickel, famously known as Cupronickel is an alloy that contains 60-90 % of copper. The metal bars made out of Copper-Nickel with different amounts of copper act differently. One such bar, Copper Nickel 80/20 Round Bar uses a minimum of 79% of copper and supports high melting point ranges of 1150-1200 degrees Celsius. It is annealed in temperatures of 650-825 degrees Celsius. Its standard is different from Cu-Ni 70/30 bar I.e ASTM B151 UNS C71000 Flat bar. It supports 20000 ksi elasticity modulus, a density of 8.94 g/cm3, and specific gravity of 8.94, thus it is suitable in the paper and pulp industry and fast-flowing seawater. A similar standardized bar, ASME SB151 Copper Nickel 80/20 Square bar has application in railway industries as it has high security against stress corrosion cracking and supports strengthening by hot and cold working in the ranges of 650-1000 degrees celsius.
CUNI 80/20 Hex bar has a high tensile strength of 655 MPa, yield strength up to 586 MPa, and shear modulus of 52 GPa. This makes it for the petrochemical and power plant industries. It is hardened between the temperature range of 649 and 816 Celsius. Meanwhile, the hot working temperature can go as high as 1038 degrees Celsius. These are referred to as 80/20 Cupro Nickel Rod and used in plumbing operations and marine engineering applications. The annealed rods have a nominal tensile strength of 330 MPa and a rigidity modulus of 7500 ksi. The tolerance level ranges from H01 to H14 depending on the requirement.
Cupro Nickel 80/20 Round Bar supports forging above 850 degrees Celsius and retains properties up to 350 Celsius. As they are hardened based on the requirement, they support hot and cold working. The shear strength of these rods goes up to 205 MPa.
