There is a variety of nickel and haste alloy tubes and pipes available under this grade. ASTM B619 pipe is one of those which are first welded and then passed through annealing treatment. Class 1 of this specification also consists of those tubes that are sized after welding is completed. Whereas, class 2 of ASTM b619 c276 pipe is produced by welding followed by cold working and then finished with solution annealing. As per the furnishing requirements of Ni SB 619, N06022 Pipe Descaling and solution annealing is done. However, the main aim of it is to improve the resistance of the tube to corrosion after it is welded.
These ASTM B619 Welded Pipes are bound to grain boundary precipitation due to the presence of chromium which is overcome by solution annealing. It smoothens the surface of the ASTM B619 UNS N10276 Welded Pipe and removes the excess carbon from the surface. This prevents the formation of carbide precipitation on ASME SB619M pipe even if they are used at a high temperature. Similar to solution annealing descaling helps in removing extra residue on the surface of the pipe thus giving it a smooth finish.
These ASTM B619 ERW Tubing have good resistance to oxidation as well and this can be measured by a test such as weight change and the depth of corrosion penetration. It also resists carburation and nitriding which are the main reasons for an alloy to fail early at high temperatures. Due to its unusual resistance to oxidation, reducing, and neutral atmosphere ASTM B619 Hastelloy C276/C22 Welded Pipe are well suited for use in the furnace. They are also useful in gas turbine combustion cans and ducting heat treating equipment due to these properties.
