Titanium is a solid chemical element having silver color, low density, corrosion-resistant, and relatively higher tensile strength up to 434Mpa. Industries have used titanium to create Grade 2 Titanium Round Bar which belongs to UNS R50400. This standard provides good formability, weldable characteristics, erosion resistance for longevity, and the ability to withstand heavy loads. The product ASTM B348 UNS R50400 Hex Bar has a low density of 4.5 g/cm3 which offers high strength and a high melting point of 1665 degrees Celsius. Industries use both hot and cold working on this to harden the steel and increase the tensile modulus to 103 GPa. Apart from ASTM, ASME SB 348 gr 2 Titanium Rod provides better strength in terms of ultimate tensile strength i.e minimum 345 MPa and yield strength of 245 MPa. Thus it has application in aerospace and industrial applications.
Industry specified DIN 3.7035 Flat bar is known as Werkstoff number and equivalent to UNS R50400. It is treated at 700 degrees Celsius to harden the surface and thus producing a yield strength of 275 N/mm2 and 20 % elongation. These are bio-compatible and thus used in medical engineering. These titanium bars are ductile and thus with other elements produce Alloy Grade 2 Square Bar. These alloyed bars have Poisson's ratio in the range of 0.34 to 0.10 and are hardness is 14.9. They find application in Construction, bridges, shipbuilding, and other engineering industries.
Titanium Grade 2 Round bar has more strength than Grade 1. The tensile strength is 70300 psi and the yield strength is 50000 psi. It is a non-magnetic unalloyed Titanium having a low density of 4.51 g/cm2 and it is annealed by heating at 704 degrees Celsius.
