The specification for ASTM A790 covers seamless and straight-seam welded stainless grade ferritic -austenitic steel pipes. These Sa 790 S32760 grade pipes are meant for applications where the alloy needs to have good resistance to general corrosive, with emphasis specifically on resistance to SCC or stress related corrosion cracking. The A790 S32760 material pipe must be made by either a seamless or an automatic welding process of the Sa 790 UNS S32760  pipes. There would be no addition or use of any  filler metal during the welding operation. Heat analysis need to be conducted on the ASTM A790 UNS S32760 Pipe in order to determine the percentages of the alloying elements which have been specified. Tension tests, hardening tests, flattening tests, hydrostatic tests and non- destructive electric tests  are some of the tests which have to be performed on the ASTM A790 UNS S32760 to conform to the specified requirements of this standard.

The specification for the ASTM Sa 789 covers standard requirements for various stainless steel grades. For e.g. the Sa 789 S32760 specification covers stainless steel tubing nominal wall thickness, placing specific emphasis on the alloy’s ability to offer good resistance to stress corrosion cracking. Hence, one can say that the Sa 789 UNS S32760 specification broadly covers stainless steels which are meant to be used in applications which require good resistance to general corrosion. As typical behaviour for stainless steel grades, this steel S32760 Pipe tend to be susceptible to embrittlement, when they have been used for a prolonged period in elevated temperature setting environments. Heat and product analysis must be conducted on the ASTM Sa 789  stainless steel grade UNS S32760 Pipe wherein the stainless steel alloy grade has to conform to the required chemical composition.

Chemically speaking, this alloy grade i.e. -  Sa 789 UNS S32760 need to follow the specifics of the composition as mentioned in the specification for the alloying elements such as carbon, copper, sulphur, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, nickel, chromium, molybdenum, nitrogen, and others. All tubes, for e.g. – the S32760 Tube must be furnished in a heat-treated condition keeping in accordance to the specified temperature as well as quench conditions mentioned in the standard. During the final heat treatment, when the alloy Sa 789 UNS S32760 material is in a continuous furnace, or when a heat treated condition has been obtained directly by quenching the alloy after hot forming, the number of tubes to be produced having the same size and from the same heat in a lot have to be determined.

The number of tubes as well as their lot will be determined from the prearranged sizes of the tubes. The ASTM Sa 789  stainless steel grade UNS S32760 Pipe material must conform to the already agreed upon tensile strength as well as hardness properties. Mechanical tests such as flaring test to be administered for seamless tubes, flange test meant for welded tubes, tension test, hardness test, and reverse flattening test will be performed on the S32760 Tube. Each ASTM Sa 789  steel grade UNS S32760 Pipe must also be subjected to either a non- destructive electric test or a hydrostatic test.
