we are one of the oldest stainless steel pipe manufacturers in India, stainless steel are metal alloys that are chemically added with elements like chromium, silicon, aluminium, nickel, molybdenum, and carbon. Iron alloyed with carbon is used to produce carbon based stainless steel. Generally speaking, there are 5 families of stainless steel pipe grades i.e. – austenitic, ferritic, martensitic, Precipitation hardening and Duplex stainless steel. Three of the most important and widely used stainless steel tube grades are as follows-
Austenitic stainless steels are one of the largest groups of stainless steel seamless pipe. Their structure is austenitic or is face-centered cubic crystal. The microstructure of these alloys is due to addition of chromium, nickel, manganese and nitrogen. These alloying elements can be added at all stages from their melting point to their cryogenic region. Austenitic steels can be hardened by working. They are non-magnetic, ductile at cryogenic temperatures, have excellent formability and have good weldability.
Ferritic stainless steel has ferrite or body centered cubic crystal as their structure. These steels contain iron and about 10.5% to 27% chromium. They could contain trace amounts of nickel. When exposed to high-temperatures, ferritic stainless-steel lacks mechanical properties. Like carbon steel, ferritic steel is magnetic. They are known to have ferromagnetic properties like malleability and ductility. Although Ferritic steel is less ductile as compared to austenitic steel. And similar to austenitic steel, they are not hardenable by heat treatment.
Martensitic stainless steel is one of the most versatile stainless steel seamless tube material available.
