The 347 Stainless Steel (1.4550) with UNS S34700 is an austenitic stainless steel that gives the ideal corrosion resistance and has very low carbon content. AISI 347 (SS 347) is majorly used in thermal and welding processes. In the annealed condition SUS 347 is nonmagnetic and gets magnetic when welded. In the pulp and paper mills, Stainless Steel 347 shows good resistance due to the excess acidic surrounding.
347 Stainless Steel Properties
AISI 347 Stainless Steel has special properties typical to the product. The following sums up the qualities of 347 Steel.

347 Stainless Steel Applications
1.4550 Stainless Steel (S34700) is used in flue gas desulfurization systems and is also a regular component in petrochemical industries. The chemical process vessels and pulp and paper industry also use AISI 347. Stainless Steel 347 is also used in condensers in power generation.
Fabrication and Heat Treatment
Grade 347 is tougher than other grades of 304 Stainless Steel. Thus, it is advised to use chip breakers so that the harden-ability of this alloy is considerably brought down with the help of low speeds and constant feeds.
Usually, this grade of stainless steel is welded with the help of fusion and resistance. Normally the oxyacetylene welding method is more preferred for this alloy. One can also use the 347 filler metal which gives a good result.
This grade of stainless steel is hot and is worked using the regular hot working processes. This is normally heated at around 1149 to 1260 degrees centigrade and should not be heated at a temperature below 927 degrees Fahrenheit. The post work annealing is done to be able to keep the property of corrosion resistance intact.
This process involves stamping, drawing, shearing as well as heading which is done successfully. The post work annealing is normally done to bring down the internal stress.
Annealing and Hardening
Annealing is usually done at 1010-1121°C (1850-2050°F) which is then followed by cooling. Hardening normally does not react to any kind of treatment and is hardened by the working of cold treatment.
